Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter - Instrument Panel Pic

(1/1)

petrov27:
Does anyone have a picture (ideally in period) of the panel they could post or link to? Not finding much out there, found some pics of a restored French-built, but I think that differed quite a bit from the British-built that I am interested in....

guitarfool:

Just got this in the mail today - a 1980 reprint from the Shuttleworth collection (no copyright) of original pilot notes from 1918 or thereabouts (also no copyright).
I put it up on my website that up until now was only guitar and synthesizer stuff (my other hobbies)

So here you go:
http://www.guitarfool.com/WWI_AC/index.html

It says the panel is for the 130 hp clerget version, but I doubt it would be much different for the 110 hp, or even the Le Rhone.
Let me know if you have trouble downloading it.

Hi Jeff - that sounds great and would love to see the pic - unfortunately my browser and security goes nuts when I try to go to what you have linked not sure what is up with that but seems like it wont let me access it. Any chance you can send the pic via a personal forum message or some other method? Thanks!!

guitarfool:
Your browser is probably set up to only view https websites, and not plain old http sites. I suppose I need to cough up the money to buy a site certificate and jump through the hoops to make it 'secure', I just never saw the point since I'm not selling anything or doing credit card transactions. But it's getting to the point where it has become the norm.

Anyway - I'll try it as an attachment. It's a drawing of the panel, not a photo.
