72nd Nieuport 17 (part 1)
« on: August 14, 2022, 07:10:53 PM »
Here's the first of a pair Eduard's 1/72 Nieuports I've been working on.  :D
Actually this is an old model which I messed the finish up on then broke up to use as a 'test' piece resurrected with a new wing, tail and other bits. I sanded all the old finish back, resprayed with new decals and managed to complete before the one I'd started later (which is in camouflage) Prop is carved from laminations of plywood a la Prze
Cheers
Paul

Ah, just seen this on Britmodeller and did not realise this was you, Paul.

Lovely work and really like your chosen Italian markings

Yep, guilty as charged Dave  ;D
(I've a couple of clubmates on Britmodeller so add it there for them, although I find there's so much stuff posted on there that it's difficult to find what interests you)

Hopefully catch up a show soon
Paul

I have almost forgotten how small Ni17 actually was...
A lovely model you built. And I like the prop, too ;D

Really nice work Paul. Great job with the propeller.  This is something I must attempt sometime.

Cheers PresmoL  ;D

Mind you I've got an old 72nd Bebe on the shelf (Merlin kit perhaps) which is even smaller and must have been a real struggle for any pilot over 5 1/2 foot tall to get into, let alone fly.

Really nice work Paul. Great job with the propeller.  This is something I must attempt sometime.

Thanks Tim - not too difficult to do and quite therapeutic once you've made a couple. As PresmoL said in the thread explaining the process you just need to take your time and make sure your tools are sharp (I did manage to wreck one when I was rushing to get to the sanding stage and snapped the tip of one blade off  :-[)

Cheers
Paul

Beautiful work Paul!  I really like the overpainted roundels, missed that on your build thread.

Thanks Zac. Bit more of fiddle than the tripe, but pretty cute in the end  :D

Nicely done!  Nieuports are one of my favorite aircraft.

Cheers RVW. I'll confess that they're not my favourite, but there are so many different schemes for them that it would be rude not to build at least a couple  ;)
