Roden SE5a: 56 Squadron G-M
« on: May 22, 2022, 04:59:22 AM »
I have completed the Viper powered SE5a flown by Duncan Grinnell-Milne  in 56 squadron. I have portrayed it as I "think" it may have appeared just prior to or Just after the armistice. G-M stated in his book that he was flying over the front in Schweinhund III  with "It's Nose Painted Red". The all red fuselage was photographed in January 1919 so probably done after the Armistice but How Soon  is unknown.

That is super Rick - the more so as you have not had much luck with this kit in the past. Super finish and rigging.

Stephen.

Lovely model, Rick. I especially like the perfectly doubled flying wires (my personal nightmare!) Your reasoning seems perfectly valid to me. I think the SE5a is the definitive aeroplane of WWI and you have certainly done this one justice.

Beautiful work Rick! You are a true maestro of the Roden kits and show what can be achieved with them.

I have a Roden Viper SE5a pasrt started here that I keep getting distracted from so your build makes me pay attention to it again.

Excellent work!

cheers

Great looking model, Rick.   I think the semi gloss finish looks very realistic.
And the PC12 finish is more appropriate than red!
