Getting ready for paint!! Looks great. Decided on a JG? I always like JG5. Black and yellow DOTR bands and yellow trimmed black numbers.

Thanks Steve - probably going to go something different (but only slightly) - probably Hungarian or ROA; a bit bland for some but different enough to be slightly interesting :)

That's why there's chocolate and vanilla. You pick what you like!

Basic colours are now on. I forgot how much 'fun' it is painting Luftwaffe colours... far from great but, well, good enough.

Wonderful results on the panel pre-shading Brad, just a spectacular realistic finish. Yet another fine example of what can be done with a vintage Kit, lovely work!

Brad, my friend, I can only echo Lance's comments.  Your paintwork is
just great and your preshading is first-rate!  Wunderbar!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks Lance and Ernie! :) Next challenge will be masking and spraying the markings.

I've now sprayed some national markings. I also had a go at masking and spraying the aircraft number.

Still needs a couple of minor touch ups but good enough. Next up, a clear coat and decals, before I start getting into some weathering.

Excellent work!! The pre shade worked well. Looking forward to the weathering.

BTW, noticed the third hand device holding the model. What's the base look like that will hold the entire length of the model by the nose and not tip?

Thanks Steve!

Here's my little stand:

The base is quite heavy. I picked this up probably 15 years ago (if I remember correctly it also came with a magnifying glass, which is long gone).

I sometimes try to use this to paint with; especially if I am going into long paint sessions (like with this model).

Cheers!

Brad, can you quickly run through your process of getting the canopy to look so great please.
(I have a rough idea but it would be good to get details).

Hi Andrew - nothing too complicated, just used the Tamiya polishing compounds (course, fine and finish, in that order) with a q-tip, washing with water and using clean q-tips between each grade of polish.

Cheers!

Well this is about as far as i'm going to get on her this year; about to hit the road for Christmas and New Year. Stencils are now on, and a little bit of panel line shading with sprayed on thinned black / brown.

Was hoping to get it done before the end of year, but there was just too much to get done in the end. Such is life, as they say!

Cheers,

BC
