Scale Models 1974 article on the Sopwith Triplane

(1/1)

Dave W:
Thanks to the kindness of Ray Rimell we have permission to reproduce another of his classic WW1 articles from his days as Editor of Scale Models magazine, published by Model and Allied Publications.

This article, published in the March 1974 issue, was one of a series on modelling the aircraft of the RAF Museum in 1/72 scale and looks at the Sopwith Triplane.

Although Ray's article is based around the Revell kit, it's topical today with the release of the new KP 1/72 scale Triplane kit.

Many thanks to Ray Rimell for his help and ongoing support for the Forum.

I bought that issue when new, and used it when building the KP kit for Cher Ami - did a Revell one in parallel, which is how I became aware of some very iffy areas with the new kit.  That period in Scale Models' history had many really useful articles in it by Ray Rimell, and I still find them indispensible.

Paul.
