If the printed fabric was applied chordwise with careful attention to match the seams so there would be full hexagons, why would they not match the aileron covering to the rest of the wing?

I'm pretty sure they didn't bother lining up the pattern of the ailerons when applying the fabric  :)

The wing fuel tank is in place.

The only photo I've found of the top lower right wing, clearly shows a compass.

Pre shading looks great and nice catch on the compass!

Yep, exactly. And there's no need to speculate as it's visible from photo.

As others have stated, great looking decals and the brown colour is just fantastic!

I assume ailerons were skinned before they were attached to the wings... if so, it's probably likely that the patterns wouldn't match precisely.

Thanks all, I've had some trouble doing the wings and had to start all over.
By mistake I put some alcohol into the varnish when I finishing the wings the first time.

This made the 'magenta' bleed and they became reddish. I should have known because
I've had the same issue with the decals I'm printing myself!

It has nothing to do with the decals, they are great. They went down very well, in one piece on every wing!

I'm quite happy with the end result, being 'prototype' decals and all.

Cheers: Kent

Thanks Rick and Fredrik!!!

Some further progress...

Top wing in place, fitted like a 'glove'! Rigging ongoing...

Some of the details of the CHFT model (wireless) in place. Generator from the WNW's W.29 kit + Compass at the wing root.
The MG ring is also 'procured' and adapted from the W.29 kit.
