Orlik Fokker Triplane 1/33rd Paper Card Model
« on: February 27, 2022, 03:20:46 PM »
Evening, Folks...

I got it all done today.  I spent the time adding some little details.  Wind screen, gun sites, fuel gauge between the guns, foot step and hand holds, a manufacturer's label on the right cowling, control cable access in the top wing in the middle, leading edge packing bumpers on the wings (just blobs of thick super glue painted grey) and finally some airbrush weathering here and there.  I must say it looks a lot nicer than my Roden 1/32nd Dr. I and I really like the striped tail.  It was fun to repaint the model as I'd wanted it and the kit is pretty spectacular as designed.

Either a Camel, an Avro 504K or a Halberstatd D-III is next.  Hmmm....maybe a Macchi!

Thanks for looking,
Dan

Hello, Dan -

I find it incredible that these are made from card - if you had not said I would have assumed a plastic kit - amazingly good work.

Another bit of paperwork completed. Well done Dan!
You've shown there's no need for a 3-D printer to get the models you want.

Dan you are a master with paper models. As Marc and Dave have commented, these look just like plastic models with a superb finish and detailing. Just amazing to a fumbling fingers modeller like me!

Stephen.

I have seen a lot of paper models in the modeling contests - they are very popular here in Poland. There are true masterpieces among them but there are quite rare examples about which one is able to say with admiration - "I cannot tell that it was made of paper". And your Dr.I is one of them. Gorgeous all around!

I can't believe this is a card model. As Prze said, I've seen some beautiful work, but this takes the cake IMHO.

Thank you, one and all!  I'm kind of overwhelmed.   :)

Przemol:  I try to make my paper models "look" Polish as I think the Poles make the most incredible paper models.  So those of your countrymen are the high bar the rest of us try to approach.  Thank you for the complement.

This was a really nice project and it looks nice on the ol' shelf.

More to come...Dan
