1/72 Encore and Roden Sopwith Camels
« on: April 23, 2021, 05:45:30 AM »
Just finished these two. It took a long time.  Straight out of the box builds.

I had to adjust the dihedral on the Roden kit so that the struts would fit.  The port side fuselage step is not on the correct position and I did not notice it until placing the decals. I had to bring some of the decals back a little for the Roden kit.  Live and learn!

Mr. Kit acrylics and .059 wire for the rigging.  It looked a little large so I ordered some  .004 stainless steel.  Overall the kits were good, just the rigging was a forever job.

Hey Rip ,

Both of your tiny Camels turned out really super . How where the decals in the Roden kit ?

The Roden decals were not bad. I expected the worse and hoped for the best.  I now have several after market decals for most Roden kits.  Thanks for the nice comments. I am currently finishing a Toko Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter and the decals were useless.

Two great little Camels - well done!

I actually think this is not a bad little from Roden and have built several of these myself over the years

Very nice Camels.  How was the build on the Roden?  I don't have the latest on any 'gotchas' when building it like the D.III struts or the D.VII lower wing.  What can you report?  Thanks.

Stuart

In response to your question Stuart, make sure the dihedral on the bottom wing  is correct. The Sopwith Camel had a pronounced one on the lower wing.

Great job! I find the Camel a tough enough subject in 1/32 scale. I had to double check the title to make sure these are 1/72. Seriously fine work!
