New 1/72 Nieuport Triplanes - KP Models
« on: July 06, 2021, 05:56:30 PM »
Probably old news, but these appear to be 2021 releases from KP Models - two Nieuport Triplanes in 1/72.

Interesting subjects :)

Cheers,

BC

Thanks Brad!
Who would believe that the Ni.17 Triplane would ever be produced in injection moulded plastic. KP have recently announced that they plan to release more WWI kits, but I didn't think they would be so quick with it. According to them Airco DH.4/DH.9 and AVRO 504 are to follow.
The sprues include upper wings and armament for the French and RFC variants. Too bad there is no fuselage and Clerget for the Ni.17bis variant tested by the RNAS, but these can easily be obtained elsewhere.

How many of these weirdo's did Nieuport make. It is not even mentioned in my olde Aircraft of World War 1, Sorry but this is not in my cart.
PS just bought an Airfix Vulcan

Three prototypes were produced: two based on the Ni.17, one French and one tested by the RFC. Another one was based on the Ni.17bis and was tested by the RNAS. There was an earlier attempt to produce a triplane based on the Ni.10.
Many manufasturers tried to produce triplanes at that period, most of them did not reach serial production. Some of these prototypes are interesting modelling subjects.
A Roseplane 1/72 resin kit of the Nieuport 10 Triplane is on its way to me right now. I wouldn't replace it with any V bomber... ;)

Maybe KP should do a Nieuport  28, wink wink. A much better idea methinks.

Good idea loopyloop, I was actually thinking of writing to KP and suggesting the Nieuport 28 and the Morane N, Roland C.II and a few other types that deserve modern releases.

I would like KP and others to focus on large production aircraft instead of experimental machines. For example FE2b-1939 aircraft, DFW C.V -1000, Salmson 2A2- 3200. I know some of these were produced in resin or limited injection but they are not readily available any longer.  There are many others I have not mentioned.  A lot of research must go into any new model project and I feel time would be better spent producing more mainline aircraft.

KP did the Albatros C.III (2270 produced) and L.V.G. C.VI (1100), and their next releases will be the Airco DH.4/DH.9 and AVRO 504, so there is something for everyone :)

Any time line for the DH9 release?  I understand a DH5 will be released shortly.

Not yet. Quote from Petr Muzikant, director of KP: "We are preparing the templates in cooperation with the CMR company and you can look forward to the DH-4/9, Avro 504, DH-5, Nieuport Triplane and others".
Thanks to Dave W for the information.
The DH.5 is expected this month.
