What 2 seaters are available in 1/72nd?
« on: January 05, 2021, 05:47:52 AM »
I have a "Wild Hair" thing going on and would like to build some 1/72nd 2 seaters. I would limit this to injection Molded kits for now! So what is out there that is fairly good? I know the Old Airfix kits have issues sometimes so wondering about others. I will most likely look into the Airfix BE2 as it appears to be good. Any others to look at? Thanks for any advice!

PS: How is the Roden Bristol F2b ?

There are some models.
Roden F2b is a nice model. Besides, there are HB W.29 and few variants of Sopwith ¹/² Strutter by Eastern Express ex Toko (toko are better quality), Spad S.2 / 4 by A- Model (short run and a lot of work),  Jenny by Olimp Models (I dont have it). Pegasus has few 2seaters as well, DH.4, F.2b, FB5 Gun Bus, Junkers CL.I, LVG C.VI. I have only FB5. It looks nice in a box, plastic and white metal parts.
The process meters...  therefore so much models are stuck between start and finish

AZ or special Hobby also have a Breguet 14

It’s in my stash, looks ok

I think both Eduard/flashback and Toko/Roden did the 1 1/2 strutter both are good
Pegasus had a few German 2 Seaters

The AZ Breguet 14 and Flashback 1 1/2 Strutter are out of production, as are the Pegasus kits. They are occasionally available on Ebay.

The Pegasus Junkers CL.I is still available here:

I forgot the obvious ones, the Airfix Hannover Cliii. Roland Clii and the RE8.

I know these are very old models, but they still can be built into nice models, with some work. Of the three the Hannover is by far the nicest. All need interiors.

Not much I can add to what the guys have mentioned already . but I would like to toss in Ardpol , they are resin kit but are right up in standards of injection kits and very little clean up on the parts . They have a huge range of WW 1 2 seaters .

FYI,  It would be wise to have a set of backup or aftermarket decals available. Many of the kits are old and the kit decals are defective.  I am living that nightmare currently with a Toko Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter

I've built the 1/72 Roden Bristol F.2B.  It is an absolute joy.  It fits together exceptionally well, much better than earlier Roden kits, and far more detail than the Airfix kit.  One warning, the landing gear/lower wing struts are quite fragile.  They'll break just by looking at it sideways.  I would recommend strengthening/replacing them with brass.  Maybe someone by now has done them in metal?

I've built both the Flashback and Toko Sopwith 1 1/2 strutters.  Wait until you can find a Flashback.  It's miles better in fit and detail.

I've built the AZ models Martinsyde F.4 Buzzard.  If it's any indication of the quality of their Breguet, it'd be a super nice build as well.

Ok this one isn't ww1, but is a really nice model.  The Airfix newer tool swordfish.  It comes in prewar or Taranto raid markings, also there is another boxing that’s the seldom seen floatplane.....

Yes i know technically 3 person crew.... Its such a historical aircraft though... Flying dinosaur, that succeeded
