Comment:
We are fortunate in our hobby to have world class talents producing aftermarket products to enhance our modelling.
In the field of scale figures one of the world leaders is Martin Hille of Germany whose Kellerkind Miniaturen product line enjoys a global reputation for high quality.
Kellerkind figures feature in many award winning dioramas and we are now fortunate at the Forum to have Kellerkind support our figure reviews board.
Figures have become an essential part of an aircraft display, aided by an expanding range of well sculpted scale figures in authentic clothing.
Kellerkind of Germany have sent us their 1/48 German pilot and mechanic set, for use in scenes depicting the Imperial German Air Service 1914-1918.

The set comes in a strong, plastic protective packaging with cast resin one piece figures in a light grey resin. Their casting blocks are easily removed to speed cleanup.
I like the fact these figures can be placed in virtually any German scenario and look perfectly at home. The mechanic especially has one of those lived -in faces and an almost casual stance that just brings a diorama alive.

The quality of the sculpting and casting is world class work. The details of faces and clothing are nicely rendered
As with all scale figures the challenge is for the painter to make them more lifelike and in this regard Kellerkind have a market advantage because the header sheet in the package opens out to be a detailed painting guide for both pilot and mechanic.

This is of great assistance and cuts down the modeller’s time in chasing colour references.

The 1/48 scale modellers should find these figures well worth adding to their model displays.

Conclusion:
Two nicely sculpted and beautifully cast figures, ideal for a 1/48 scale diorama setting.
Highly recommended.
Our thanks to Kellerkind Miniaturen for the review sample.
