I just have to say that it is a nice catch on the difference between the kit and the original! I know you will get it done to your usual High Standards. Along the same lines anyone building Nieuport kits should look at the openings for the elevator controls. They varied from one airframe to another. Just a heads up!

Your masks look great!! Do you do them by hand or with Cricut type cutter?

Hi Fred,
Yes, I use a 'KNK Maxx Air' cutter for all my masks. It's a well made piece of kit produced by an American company, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

Thanks ALL!!!

Hi Richie,

I wouldn't have bothered normally, but the photo of the real aircraft forced me to get creative.  :D
All is well!

Got another little update for you.
Leather combing, gun in place and bits and bobs.

The light at the end of the tunnel is dim, but growing in luminosity each day.

Cheers,

I like the dry brushing effect on the cockpit combing  :)

Excellent results on the leather padding von B! I struggle to come up with a good mix on the lighter more "Blonde" leather. What do you use?

Hi Rick,

The combing was built up from light to dark.
I laid down a couple of coats of 'Cold Light' as a base. I then applied a few thin watery coats of Yellow Ochre followed by even thinner coats of 'UA 764.' The high spots were then dry brushed with 'Cold Light' (the barest of dry brushing...dry dry dry!) to bring back points of light hitting the leather. Thin washes of Citadel Sepia added shine and helped bring everything together. The whole process took around 45 minutes to complete. I'm very happy with the results.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Nice work on the leather, Bob.  Who knew leather was so complicated?

It isn't! I just go all around the houses to make it more complicated  ;D

Thank you, Ken!

I like the look of your leather, Bob.
There are only two states to be in:  Queensland and blotto.
