Savoia Pomilio SP3 1/48 cardmodel
« on: April 10, 2020, 04:13:33 PM »
Starting from the Windsock Datafile 128 drawings of "SIA.SP2 and SP3", I made this model in cardboard, both glossy and opaque, and inkjet printing.
The wing posts and the tail frame are made of steel sticks covered with printed paper.

I am sorry that I missed the build thread on this - I have just read it through. Pushers present some problems in solid media but in card they are more difficult IMHO. This is a truly beautiful representation of an interesting type - I am very hard pressed to believe that it is card. The rigging is superb and the overall impression is outstanding.

This is a type which is on my to do list to scratch build - now I must get around to it too.

Stephen.

In reality, for the cardboard there were no major assembly difficulties in this model.
There are no curved surfaces or special fittings.
In any case, the 1/48 scale allows design errors that are not tolerable in 1/33.

Holy Cow, Marco.  That is beautiful.  In any scale and any medium.
Keep on building!

A work of art, Bravo! It's interesting to note that paper, card and wood are closer to the prototype than plastic.I would love to see a symbiotic fusion between flying models and static models!

That could be easily mistaken for a contemporary photo unless you look very closely.

Brilliant, artistic and very clever! This is amazing, paper models are something completely new to me. Will follow your builds from here, this is fascinating.
