Thanks for looking, folks. This was my dream build. An aircraft that had an enormous impact on me as a child, and she was engraved into my heart back then.

Let’s talk canopy surgery. The kind that makes you invent new words.
The standard greenhouse is, ummm wrong for this application, de, we make fixing noises
This bump has got to go.

So we remove the offending panel, install a patch inside and call in Mr Milliput to help..

Let’s just say the new BarracudaCast wheels are way, way nicer than the kit parts. And they come pre flattened as well.

Thanks guys.  This airplane was a work of love, and it’ll probably never be truly finished.
I’ve always considered myself first and foremost a WW1 modeler, but as a child of the Cold War, that stuff fascinates me to no end.
I’ve considered the Mk.10 (Mk.X to wartime fans of the bird) to be, like the Merlin powered Mustang, a great example of the best in both Sides of the pond.  The postwar Mk.10s even more so. An awesome British design built in Canada and jam packed full of US and Canadian equipment.
Now more pics to bring you up to speed.

Gear mounted, starting on some brake lines, which are absent in the kit.

Now the cheek radar arrays on some postwar Canadian Lancs used a different style of antenna array.

Nothing exact is available out there, so we look...

And find hope in the Hobbyboss P-61 Black Widow. Not exact, but it is close enough for kitbashing.

So we feed the kit parts, the P-61 components, plus a helping of Evergreen into the magic parts machine, and out pops these little gems.

Once that is done, we START with the myriad antennae, things that stick out, bumps, lumps, warts, farts, and peeky little brown turtleheads...

Next we move to the long range tank....

The tanks might just be a slight bit too wide, so we’ll put it on a fast reduction plan via sandpaper and elbow grease.

The rear area will be left open for now for some Lindholme Gear

More pics to follow, folks!

So last year the US Nationals came up and I had promised those who produced new aftermarket parts for this project and then for the market that I’d have it on display there, so I assembled the airframe at the hotel and placed it in “Display Only” which is jut as well, because it’s got plenty of wafts and is not finished.
The correct check arrays were not ready then, so I used it he wartime versions. Nobody noticed.. LOL

It needs plenty of antennae, bumps, lumps, and ugly stuff hung from her yet, so hopefully I’ll have her on the tables again this year for the Nats in San Marcos, Tx.

As you can see, there’s plenty left to do, but as of right now, she’s back apart on my bench getting the extra little details needed.

Plumb the bomb bay and dirty it up a bit, add the longitudinal dipole antenna units on the bomb doors, the make and install the correct RCAF wingtio lights.
