SOD restart will i make it before yearend Fokker F1 (1/48)
« on: December 30, 2020, 04:38:15 AM »
I originally started this in 2012, then got bored / AMS with models in general. In the mean time i have continued buying models, lol and even started a few. Now since lockdown it’s got boring WFH sitting in zoom meetings endlessly, I needed a distraction even if it was only to get away from burning my retinas out looking at a screen all day.

I pulled out some of my started models and so far have finished two. One even wwi.

Now for the third, started in 2012, what can I say,I can be slow, even my wife says so, not sure she means the same thing though.

First off the references

Wonder what it is...

Without further ado here are some in progress shots, sorry i didn't take any early images back when I restarted in august.
First pictures i took were in october when i was trying Ricks oil streaking... The process and effect are great, half assed attempt is all down to me. Upper wing with oil stripes.  I painted over AK interactive Real colours - which i love. Thank goodness people are rediscovering spirit based paints... (grew up with floquil brain cell killers and absolutely hate water based acrylics for airbrushing masking etc)

Btw, there is an obvious big mistake on this image and on my build. I even knew the detail. But just forgot... some of you will say idiot you left the inspection cover on the wing.... As my wife said above, i can be slow....lol

Prop looking good.  Someone else must have done it

Now the last picture was taken at 12 noon, and of course I got cocky and was doing the zoom round the room to flying noises routine and this happened.  Oops

Knocked the upper wing off, sigh at least it had a soft landing and the cabanes are still on.

Will i mKe it to the yearend deadline i set for myself... too be continued

Nice to hear that no damage was done to the struts and an easy fix . That is one nice looking Fokker Ray  :)

Excellent work on the streaking Ray! It is always satisfying to see that My tutorial actually helps other Modelers! The prop is outstanding and your F1 certainly looks the part. As for the wing detaching it looks as though you should have no issues with the fix.

Well its 11:30ish Am Est, and I’m calling it done.

Btw the small looking fokker that was in some of the earlier pictures is an old toko/roden 1/72 prototype triplane V4. My wife puts it on the tree, and she dropped it, so its in for repairs...

Building models again was great therapy in a crappy year.  Certainly broke the monotony of working from home.

A few last pictures, wing back on, and prop drying (orange clear makes the wood effect look real)
