Thanks all.

Done the remaining interior bits and bobs, so the last couple of photo's for posterity. ::)

And buttoned-up ...

More next year. ;D

Thanks!

Terri, I did the (tail) wires from the control stick going underneath the seat.
Didn't do the rudder wires, even though I scratch build the pulleys for them.
The Eduard frames are not correct and got in the way. Noticed too late to fix it. Not a big deal in this scale.

One of the major problems with my previous builds, was the constant handling of the fuselage.
Was very difficult to avoid fingerprints and paint damage, so I made a jig/stand from copper wire.

I can now paint without touching the fuselage...and set it aside.

More soon,

Robin  :)

Excellent work on the interior! That wire jig looks like a truly excellent solution to an age old problem. Bravo!

Great work! You've really managed to improve the kits (basic) details and it's looking good! That wire stand was clever - thanks for sharing that idea.

Thanks guys,

Next step...

..."basic paint"

I did the wood base with a sand colour, just a single base colour. No pre-shading, no panel line wash, or whatever.
With the wood grain minimal and lengthwise on all panels, it will be difficult to make it look nice.
There's a chance my effort to make it look realistic will backfire, but I like to give it a try. :-X

Fingers crossed...oils next.

More soon,

Robin  :)

Looks like a great base for the wood! Remember that the great thing about the oils is you can remove most of the pigment but still leave a stained effect with some grain. I am sure your Albatros will look great!

Thanks gents,

Yep...really happy with this stand-holder-jig-frame-thing. I now wonder why it took me 50+ years. :o

First oil results are in....

Started to do a batch of 6 panels.

Ended up with 5. I removed too much from the 6th and couldn't fix it, so I cleaned it up.

A close up.

Perhaps a bit boring, but this is about what I try to achieve now. Very little. ;D

Tomorrow another batch.

Robin :)

Robin,
I think you've got the wood effect just right.
Keep up the great work!
