Let's see that masterpiece of an engine (that may subsequently be covered up inside a cowling)! Show your engine, particularly aftermarket ones so we can get idea of their appearance and detail level.
I'll start with a few...
First up, a Copper State Models Clerget 9B.
As seen in the picture below, the Clerget has springs that help close the exhaust valve, which are rarely modeled.

I put a simple one loop spring on a previous model engine but wanted to improve on that. I made the tool below for that purpose.

First wrap a 0.008" wire around the front of the tool.

Wrap the wire around the rod twice to form the spring coils.

Slide the rod out from the flat post to free the spring. Trim the ends.

Drill holes and glue spring onto engine before carpet monster gets it.

Finished 1/32 CSM Clerget. Still a bit oily from the last run.

Vector 1/32 Gnome Monosaupape 9B 100 hp. I remade the front of the crankcase in aluminum and added RB Motions bolt and stud parts.

Wingnut Wings 1/32 Gnome Monosaupape 9B 100 hp.
