Thank you Robin and Terri!
Yes, "Stropp" is also painted on using masks. You can see some small inconsistencies in the width of the white outlines, but that isn't all bad. First painted on markings look more lifelike due to their non perfect looks I think and second, painted markings behave differently from decals when it comes to weathering and other treatments. That is to say, painted on markings behave like the rest of the model.

Yes Terri, she does look good and I'll be happy to put this on a shelf once I'm finished! Just some rigging to go and a bit of weathering possibly.

After a bit of a stand still in the hobby room, I can now show you that I consider both of these builds as finished! Just two images of the completed build here and later some more in the Completed models section. One reason for the standstill was a lack of image hosting possibilities - sorted now I hope, so this is a bit of a test of that as well. /Fredrik

Great looking results, Fredrik.
I have line drawings from the Smithsonian museum of the Stropp Fokker, where it resides today.

Two great models Fredrik, both came out beautifully. I especially love the warm wooden tones of the fuselages.

First up, some pictures of the D.III, unfortunately dustier than necessary. Built almost straight from the box, including the paint instructions. I've used Uschi van der Rosten's woodgrain decals, which was problematic in that they tended to lift from the surface when I masked over them. Rigged using Uschi's elastic thread and home cut Albion Alloy tubing - damn difficult to cut them consistently.

Nice models Fredrik, they turned out very well indeed. If you go to Des' turnbuckle article on the homepage you will find a tube cutting jig towards the end-makes it simple to get consistent results.
Cheers,
Dave.

I join the enthusiastic comments above: two great models, woodgrain is really convincing and painting is first class.

Thank you all!

I'm quite pleased with these first efforts! There is room for improvement, but when isn't there?! I might have a look at that cutting jig for tubes or simply go to Bob's. Thanks for the tip anyway!

No real plan for the next build. It might be another Albatros or a Pup. I'm leaning towards the Pup at the moment. Ohh, it could be a camel as well...

I'm just about to put some pictures up in Completed models.
