I like the fact that the box art shows the subject escorting an Albatros C.VII or C.X

Hopefully a future release?    ;D  ;D  ;D

There are SO MANY tempting kits, WnW are releasing at the moment - hard to cope with that (says my wallet..)!

New boxing, old content. Still, I do not complain, provided they also keep releasing new tool kits, as Gotha G.I in parallel to Hannover rebox.  :D

And I am still glad with this new release, especially for those who might have missed the first Hannover. It is a great kit of an interesting aircraft. In this sense I also welcome this release even though I have no plans to get it.

What may be of interest, though, is if the rebox will contain sprues from the original manufacture, which might have been hidden in a vault somewhere in NZ for a couple of years, or will they be manufactured newly. It is not an irrelevant question, if you contemplate the fact, that (from my observations of Halberstadt and Gotha G.I contents) there is a regrettable decrease of quality - very evident if one compares the particular Gotha sprues with the older ones with Benz Bz.III engines, or in the Duellist boxing - the new Halberstadt ones with the Mercedes engine one or with the oldie RE.8 ones.

Yes it seems WNW are continuing to re-release OOP models with minor changes.
The to be released Sopwith Pup is effectively a re-release but with a different engine and decals.
This Hannover is, when you compare the instruction manuals, the same as the previous release, but with just colour scheme and decal changes.
The Fokker D.VII early has mostly common sprues to the earlier single type releases.
Other OOP models have been re-released a dual kits.

I will always build WNW kits as they amongst the best around, but personally I think more 'new' models, rather than releasing previous or minor modified models, would be much better, even if we had to wait longer for a release.
It does seem to fly in the face of WNW previous comments, in that they didn't intend to re-release OOP models,

the problem with being disappointed with rereleases is that new releases are VERY expensive and time consuming to develop. they're already cranking out a LOT of new releases, some of which are VERY ambitious (though i'm still waiting for my Ilya Mouromets). if you weigh the costs of development, it's highly unlikely repops mean they're releasing FEWER new kits.

repops are useful. addressing Przemol's question they almost certainly are repops rather than stashed sprues, renting additional warehouse space to create a false scarcity can get expensive.

they do a couple of things. for modellers, those late to the party can get in on it, and those who get an idea for a project after a kit's sold out can scratch that itch. for WNW (or any manufacturer) the threat of selling out makes buying that kit more urgent, but repops mean you can sell more (and thus fund the elaborate new development projects like the Bloody Paralyzer and Lancaster).

they've also said all along (i wasn't there at the beginning but i read old interviews) that they'd reissue things but not in the same form, so don't expect to see the same scheme again. from everything i've seen the only real deviation from their original vision is the Lancaster, and that one makes sense given Sir PJ's dambusters obsession.

if a repop sells well it's likely to be highly profitable (especially compared to the initial run which had to pay off it's development costs). it's highly likely given that WNW is for the most part a passion project, that money gets reinvested in developing new stuff. i expect repops mean more R&D budget, and thus are great news for modellers who don't care about the repop and are hoping for truly new releases, too.

as an added bonus, every repop is a kick in the delicate bits for ebay speculators asking extortionate prices.

roll on reboxings!

Hi Jeff,
You make valid points and I agree re-releases, in whatever form, will boost R&D for future, 'new' models.
As you say, it gives those that missed out the first time around the chance to go for a particular model and not get ripped off by other sellers.
As for me I'm passionate about WNW models and have one of every type released and will build them all, if I live long enough that is.
To that end, I'm not that interested in re-releases, in whatever form.
I guess if there is a continuing market for OOP models then it makes good business sense for WNW to re-release them.
