What do you hate most about modeling?
« on: November 06, 2012, 03:16:49 PM »
My pet hate is waiting for paint to dry, it's like watching grass grow, seems to take forever.  :(

Sanding and seams. I thought I'd cracked it but my Bristol build had a seam that never went after half a dozen attempts. I should have used cement.

Trimming and tidying sprue gates...... So frustrating when I want to start glueing and painting!

I sometimes use a hairdryer to accelerate drying times.

Join marks - painting a part only to have to sand and repaint.

Des - get some acrylic paints!

Paint fumes, and more specifically, thinner fumes, and more specifically-er, laquer thinner fumes. I know, it's a problem of my own making, and I could easily solve it by going to acrylic (which I think I'm going to have to) but the nausea from huffing fumes really makes me want to do a poor job of brush cleaning. The thought of wearing a face mask with an organics filter just doesn't conjure up images of relaxing hobbies to me.

- Trying to clean up a sprue gate that is right next to some detail I know I can't adequately replicate from what is an otherwise beautifully molded styrene part.
- Having p/e or scratch-built small parts disappear into oblivion.
- Improving a part to make it "just that much better" only to improve it to the point I ruin it.
- Not having enough time to model since changing careers right after I got back in the hobby and almost started to actually develop some skills.

Not having the time or space to do any modeling (at the moment :'()
When I do have the time I tend to get frustrated with a lack of skills ::)

Seams, lack of time, seams and then probably seams in that order...
