My other modeling interest
« on: May 15, 2019, 06:44:27 AM »
I started building model planes when I got out of RC where I was flying sailplanes, so my interest was there before WW1 planes.  I have in mind to create a glider diorama with the models below, and a few more I have yet to build.  All are 1/48 scale.

Ardpol SZD Bocian

ModelA Lunak with Brengun PE

Spin Medak

Roden Pilatus Porter - the tow plane

I have a few more kits in the stash and will work on them after the Hanriot.
Happy modeling!

All lovely models Ken. I have recently found my interest attracted to the odd non WW.I subject, I'm particularly and regularly distracted by between the Wars subjects. I think it's healthy and tends to reduce the effect of "tunnel vision" of which I am certainly a victim when it comes to subjects. I even have a Viking Long Boat in the Stash, so your gliders are more then appropriate! 8)
Cheers,
Lance

Wow Ken, those are excellent! The gliders and tow plane show you are talented with any subject matter!

The sailplanes are a recent interest, but I cut my modeling teeth on car models:

1/12 Ferrari 375 - scratchbuilt wheels, engine components and interior bits.

1/12 Porsche 910 - converted from a coupe to this fictional open top racer.

1/24 Porsche 935

1/24 Porsche 917 1971 LeMans team

This is where I developed the scratchbuilding skills, but never scratched a complete model until the Fokker V.23
I built a lot of Porsche models and I owned a 1986 Porsche 911, so that's why I chose p9o1r1sche as a screen name years ago.

Great models, in both fields.
But I especially like the Stork glider and Pilatus in Polish civilian markings! :-)

Indeed, models are great - especially Pilatus in Polish markings (however seems to me SP-KLM code belongs to Cessna 172 !?)

Yes, it does, but I couldn't resist putting my initials on it  ;D. Since my sailplane models are all Polish or Czech registrations, it seemed like the towplane should be one of those.

Can't get anything past you guys!  :P

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
