1/72 wish list - can anyone help?
« on: May 08, 2019, 09:34:56 PM »
Hi guys.  I'm after a few 1/72 scale kits, and am wondering if anyone has any of them they'd like to sell.   I'm after -

HR Model  Hanriot HD.1, pref with Italian decals
CMR or Pegasus  Airco DH.5
HR Model or ?  Hansa-Brandenburg C.I pref suit series 29 or 61
Ardpol or Pegasus?  Halberstadt CL.II
Pegasus or ?   RAF SE.5
Vickers FB19

Also 1/72 Pheon decals - Joseph Fall decals for his Sopwith Pup  N6205  'Betty'  from the 1/72 Pheon Decals sheet

Thanks

Hi,
Ardpol's 1/72 Halbie CL.II is currently available in on-line shops - you may try at:

Thanks Buzby.  Noted.
I see now a Pegasus kit of it came onto ebay today too.  I didn't realise they commanded such high prices.
Cheers

Regarding the Pegasus DH.5, don't be in a rush to buy, at a high price. They have shown up in the past, cheaper, like in the 8 to 10 dollar range at times.

Thanks Jim, but the price depends on where you are.
I'm in Australia, now the land of limited modelling opportunity since the distributors stuffed it all up, and postage from the US in particular is usually prohibitive.  Not sure why.  For example, the US guy selling the CL.II on eBay wants US$23.50 for postage, and that's USPS FIRST CLASS!!
Postage from England is better if you can find someone prepared to send using the "Small Packets" rate.  Kingkit has a couple I'm interested in and their price may be the best I can do.
Also, the limited run stuff usually didn't find its way over here in the first place, so buying from OS is the only option available.
No harm in trying to find better, though!
Cheers

Hi Hanriot,
HR Model Hanriot HD.1 are hard to find, especially the Italian ones. Your only hope is to wait for one to pop up on Ebay. If you are willing to opt for a US Navy version, Hannants in the UK have it: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/HRP72022

Pegasus Halberstadt CL.II: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-72-Pegasus-models-Halberstadt-CL-II-German-2-seat-aircraft-Sealed-and-Mint/173896344431?hash=item287d07a36f:g:64AAAOSwB6Zc0aQV

Pegasus Airco D.H.5 and RAF S.E.5 - Kingkit (UK) have both:
https://www.kingkit.co.uk/product/pegasus-aircraft-1-72-2023-airco-dh5
https://www.kingkit.co.uk/product/pegasus-aircraft-1-72-2025-raf-se5-early
They also have a Pegasus Hanriot HD.1 with Belgian decals: https://www.kingkit.co.uk/product/pegasus-aircraft-1-72-20-hanriot-hd1

Mr. Detlef Schorsch of Modellbaustudio Rhein-Ruhr in Germany has just made a new mould of the Hansa Brandenburg C.I UFAG (with the "turm" option). He also has a Vickers FB.19. You can find him here: http://www.classic-plane-mrr.de/index_e.html
Warning - he is a very nice gentleman but you have to be VERY patient, it often takes him months to ship an order.

I have an Eagles Talon H.B. C.I vacuform here somewhere, it's a very basic kit and I'm not sure of what production series, you can have it for the postage (from Israel). PM me if you're interested.
Good luck,
Ehud

Halberstadt CL.II - Polish-Made in Poland are usually the cheapest source of Ardpol kits:

Thanks Ehud.  That's a couple of sources I hadn't come across before.
I've been watching the kits at Kingkit.  Notice how the Hanriot is twice the price of the others?
Herr Schorsch probably doesn't have the kits in stock and has to source them to fill the order, thus resulting in large delays.
For me, vacform is a last resort.  I'll try to source plastic or perhaps resin first, but thanks for the offer of your kit.  I'll keep it in mind.
Cheers

You are welcome Hanriot, I'm glad to help a fellow 1/72 scale modeller. We seem to be an endangered species nowadays...

Yes, we are!
I think it has something to do with the fact that there are no or very few young people taking up modelling, so as the modelling population ages, eyesight becomes an issue.  Buying larger scale kits alleviates the problem to some degree.  My dad went through that, and I can see it coming for me too ......... :)
But what am I going to do with the mountain of 1/72 scale kits I won't be able to build? :(
Cheers

The US seller isn’t making money on postage, nor is he trying to gouge you. To OZ 1-2 lbs is $US23.50 First Class Parcel the cheapest rate available.  The US postal Service is NOT subsidized by the federal government (unlike many countries), and  continues to operate in the red.

Well, all I know is I have several Pegasus kits weighing around 2.2 ounces each - much less than 1lb.  Of course, there is packaging.  But if Scott at rebelalpha can send kits to me for US$10-11, then US$23.50 seems excessive.  Not sure how it all works over there - all I can do is look at the bottom line and wonder.
Cheers

I ended up getting the DH5 and SE5 from Kingkit (along with an old Airfix Pup), so only 3 to go .......  :)
