Good progress, Ian.  I hope your back is doing okay.

I noticed the underside of the rear fuse is open where the tail skid is.  Do you think it would be worthwhile scratchbuilding the framework and tailskid area, or is it too closed up to make much difference?

Hello again everyone and thanks! updates have been delayed somewhat because my laptop and phone have decided not to communicate anymore. I have succeeded in finally getting some progress photos to Flickr. Mildred H is close to the finish line!

Ken, to answer your question, once the two halves are assembled that opening becomes a very tight space indeed, just enough room for the tailskid. I did detail up the kit moldings inside, marking the cables and longerons that are visible. anyways, on to progress pics!

Care while painting paid off, and the fuselage halves went together nicely. I did trim away too much where the wide sprue gates were, so those gaps required filling.

One of my favorite things about Wingnut Wings kits is the beautiful instrument panels. shortly after this picture was taken, the lighter brown areas were given a coat of clear orange.

Once I added the lower wing, I gave a gloss coat to help the decals adhere.

Once the decals were applied, things started coming together quickly!

After completing my triplane with the control surfaces all neutral, I decided to go more dynamically posed with this one.

Now, onto control horns, touch-ups, and rigging!

Impressive update Ian, and Mildred is looking very very nice! What gloss coat did you use, it really did the job!
Cheers, :)

My thoughts exactly! I always struggle for a good gloss finish. Alclad gloss is great but isn’t that tough with handling..

Thanks everyone! The gloss is a testors rattle can high gloss clear enamel, over brush painted Tamiya acrylics. Shinier than I expected, but very happy with the outcome!

That looks super. Not long to finish now with luck: it will be a great model.

Finished! Mildred H is complete. As soon as I can get photos uploaded to Flickr, I will post them here. Only my 2nd Wingnut Wings build, glad I finished this one in under a year!
