My first foray in to the WWI era since I was about 10 years old - the old Revell 1/28 SPAD XIII. I tried to build this kit back in the mid-70s, but didn't have much success, being a rather impatient kid at the time. Same with the Revell Camel and Fokker Dr.1. This one was built from the mid-60s boxing (white box top, photo of the model on it) that had markings for Frank Luke's airplane. Being 50 or so years old, I didn't trust the kit markings although they don't look bad and may be usable, so this one was marked with a set of decals from Copper State for Eddie Rickenbacker's airplane from late summer 1918. The kit was built mostly OOB, but I replaced the prop shaft with some brass and added brass tube in the prop to mate with it, and used my normal steel wire for rigging in lieu of the sewing thread that the instructions call for. I made my best guess at the French 5-color camo, using the instructions from the 1/48 Eduard SPAD kit as a guide for the pattern. Not perfect, but I'm not unhappy with the result. Sorry for having to link to the pictures; my computer is not being terribly cooperative about resizing the images:
