wood grain decals...
« on: September 20, 2012, 12:49:34 AM »
hi all

lokking to the future i am hoping to get me a wnw albatros kit and was thinking about having a bash at doing it in wood decals.

the ones i have seen so far are the made to measure ones from hgw and the sheets from uschi van der rosten.

if any one has experience with these i would be much obliged which you think are easiest to work with and any tips and hints etc..

thanks for your time  :)

I've not used HGW but have used Uschi and was very pleased with how easy they were to work with and how good they looked.  The Uschi decals come with a very comprehensive set of illustrated instructions, as well.
Cheers,

Well, there's this comment in my D.V build thread from Keith (kornbeef)

On a side note I bought HGW pine for mine but tis so fragile I may well use the old oils trick when I reach the point to paint.

Thanks Uncle Tony! I guess the advantage of trying teh decals first is that if it all turns to custard plan B of oil paint is still possible...
