Fokker DVII (OAW) "U10"

I was watching an older documentary on MvR last night that included several seconds of "U10" being dismantled.  The video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8riAaPEcwIw and you will want to look at 25:57-26:10.  It is of interest in answering the question as to whether the quotation marks appeared around the U10 on the starboard side.  There was photographic proof that "U10" was painted on the port side and upper wing but most photos show the "" missing from the starboard side.  These photos were taken after the 95th Aero Squadron had painted their kicking mule on both sides after capture.  In my build, I left the quotation marks off from the starboard side...looks like I'll have to do another one!

The rib tapes seem pretty light in color...blue or linen?

    Thanks for the link, I had not seen this previously and some of the footage was completely new to me. The " question appears answered, as for the tapes they are very light in appearance at the end of the clip. Hard to say for certain but I'd bet on linen from the stark contrast apparent.

Lance, I agree on the tapes most likely being linen.  If you stop the video at 26:10 and compare the tapes to the white "U10" they are a close match.  Would light blue appear as such?

    Perhaps one of our photography experts would know the answer, I've no idea of how blue would "shade" on the black and white film of that era. Thoughts anyone??

Excellent work, Kreston!  The mud spatters on the bottom wing underside are quite obvious.  Also the oil stains/rust? around the aileron hinges.  The lozenge tapes on the restoration are wrong, that much is clear.  Plain linen or light blue.

I am going to build this in 1/48 scale and use linen tapes.  I used blue tapes on my WNW build.
