Roden Spad VII

I just got this kit, but so far have no references for it. I have the version with the French markings. I notice in the instructions that there are some sprue parts that are greyed out. I am curious if these were for the other boxed versions of the Spad (American and Skis version ?) or maybe they were for an unreleased varient or mark. Thank you for the information. I have to see what references are out there for the Spad.

Cos they weren't in mine, which really bugged me as I intended some of those to replace some of my Spad XIII kit.

Most of the greyed out parts were missing though a few were present. I believe the wheels were present.

Derrick There is of course a Windsock on the SPAD VII. The "Bible"  is a book by Tamaz  Gronczewski and Scweryn Fleischer:Avaitik Vintage Aircraft No.1.

This is a thorough and incredible reference which is unfortunately out of print. I got my copy directly from Tomaz a few years ago. As for the greyed out parts my original kit had a few like the later model Firewall and wheels. The French version is meant to represent an Early SPAD VII with the wheel for the ammo belt instead of boxes on the firewall, some differences in lower cowl louvres etc. Other sources are Ospreys Aircraft of the Aces series which includes several titles that have SPAD VII variants. If you need any further info I would be willing to share what I can from Tomazs' book Just PM me with Specifics.

Yes, please let me chime in here on this. That book is well worth the money. My copy, along with my Marc Chassard book on Dorme & Guiget, is one of my treasures.

Definitely a great book its the be all end all spad vii time. Multiple drawings of all variants,photos,profiles etc.

I won't argue with you about it's value but when converted to Canadian peso's and Paypal's cut it is over $80  . I forgot that I had the Squadron Spad in action book as well as the Windsock Italian Spads at War book, which I got for info on the Spad XIII. I will have to see what other books that I may get.

Since we are talking about Spads are there any good pictures of the cannon armed ones, both exterior and interior ?

Derrick, as Lorenzo said, it is out of print, and is hard to find. However, if you are a Nieuport fan, it's a great resource, and worth the money in my very humble opinion. (Thanks for posting the image Lorenzo.)

The canon-armed version was the Spad XII, and I've never heard of drawings/photos of the interior, though I've see many request on various forums.
