Question on rudder control cables on Fe.2b Late?
« on: March 12, 2016, 01:37:58 PM »
Hello all,

I am building the Wingnuts Fe.2b late model, and there is a photo in the instructions of the area of the fueselage with the rudder control cable outlet hole with a caption saying that this is only for the early version, and not applicable for the late version, but in the rigging diagram it shows these cables coming out of this spot.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me excactly where these cables go from the cockpit in the late version?

Here is a James Fahey pic of the area with the two cables coming out of the outlet hole that I am asking about.

Photo credited to James Fahey.

Any info will be very much appreciated!

Cheer's,
Jeff.

Jeff,
By coincidence I'm very close to the rigging stage on the same (Late Version) WNW "Fee". I too found this very confusing however if you refer to "Final Rigging Guide" Pg. 25 of the Plans Booklet you'll find that the rudder cables exit the nacelle from the round hole at roughly the 8 o'clock position of the larger rectangular opening in the fabric (where the aileron cables exit)  and is well forward of the leading edge of the lower wing. In your reference photo (The early Version configuration) the hole is at the very rear of the fabric nacelle panel and to the rear of the wing leading edge. I have mine routed per the first description which I believe is correct for the Late Version. Here's a photo of my cables exiting the nacelle, note I need to add a second one for the rudders, the diagram on Page 8 showed only one on the left side, I've since noticed that the other side shows two rudder cables as does the Page 25 diagram as well!

I'm finding it difficult to follow the rigging details on this one, This is one of the few criticisms I have of the Wingnut Kits, the rigging instructions always are difficult to "crack the code" on! I hope this proves of some help.
Cheers,
Lance
