Man, that is some spectacular stuff, Des!  Those guy are the best.  Here, in California, most of our airshows are performed in relatively sparsely populated areas.  There, an accident could wipe out centuries old landmarks.  Gutsy!

Variable pitch rotor blades. When the helicopter is inverted, the angle of the blades are pitched the opposite way to keep downward thrust.

Variable pitch or not, there is no way I would want to fly upside down in a helicopter

PBY Catalina
DC.3
De Havilland Caribou

I love the sound of those big radial engines.
