what reference gunze or tamiya to paint tire

all is said in the question, what paint do you use to paint light grey tire?

Pretty much whatever light gray I grab. I also use a fleshy-tan on some since I believe that color rubber was also found. I like to dirty it up a bit, so I think the actual color doesn't much matter.

Hi Xan,

I've just used three colours on my DH2 tyres, with a 2-toned effect (see Red Baron's post):

for side walls it was Tamiya XF 54 (Dark Sea Grey) with a spot or two of X-17 (Pink)
for tread area it was Tamiya XF-19 (Sky Grey) tinted with X-17.

Looks OK to me but there must be lots of variations. Tyres often have a patchy look superimposed on the often two-tone appearance. All very subtle.

Heck, I think there were even pink tires/tyres back then, no?  Like others have said, rubber without the carbon black added in is really odd.
