Turnbuckle colors

Is there any consensus on what color turnbuckles  should be painted?

this has been covered somewhere...

depends on who, what and when. German a/c had brass barrels until later in the war when they were forced to switch to steel. ends would be steel in most cases.

Josef Scott reported in his Eindcker Compendium volumes that the starboard wing turnbuckles were red, the port ones green and the "A" cabane ones were blue. I don't know about other German aircraft.

Thanks guys.  I bought some Gaspatch turnbuckles for my current build and wasn't sure how to paint them.
