Fokker DR. I question

As I am getting ready to build Roden's Fokker Dr.I, I have a strange question about the airplane. Does the lower wing spar have a cover or is covered? I've seen pictures of replica's having a cover going from the back of the wing spar to the firewall of the engine. But I can't find any info or pics about the real aircraft. Any help would be appreciated.

It should be covered, theres a metal panel beneath the front of the fuselage that runs from the rear of the engine to just behind the spar where the frame drops around the spar cut out where it is stitched to the covering behind the spar. the panel has a rectangular hatch in it to service the carb etc that almost fills the area between the undercarriage legs. Its corners are radiused and it hinges at the front
