My name is David and I am keen on returning to modelling after a very, very long break (about 40 years! Yikes!). I thought I would return to WW2 aircraft but find myself drawn to WW1. Discovering Wingnut Wings (via The Vintage Aviator) really convinced me, and my WNW Bristol Fighter arrived today. I have also started to accumulate some tools and paints etc.

Some of the builds I have seen on this website are absolutely stunning and I am in awe of the talent here. Almost scary but reading the postings, people here seem very friendly and I look forward to "lurking" and picking up lots of pointers (especially about rigging...).

   Welcome David! I am presently working on the WNW Bristol Fighter and, like you, returned to the hobby after a long break. Just a thought.............this kit is a pleasant challenge as the rigging is quite elaborate and the "suspended" lower wing can present some critical challenges as well. You might consider another WNW Kit to regain and hone your skills, the Pup is a jewel, relatively straight forward and truly magnificent in its' fit and engineering.
   Just a random thought from a fellow enthusiast, no matter which WNW Kit you start with you'll be very impressed with the detail and quality. Also, you'll find all the info and advice you'll need here, Welcome back!

Welcome to the forum, David.  I've read comments from a number of modelers on this forum and others, Des included, that the Bristol Fighter is the best of the WNW kits.  I look forward to seeing what you do with her.

The WnW Bristol Fighter is a real gem to build . . . BUT . . . the stagger on the upper wing is absolutely critical to get exactly right. The problem is that the wing goes on without any issue but if you're just a millimetre or two out of alignment, it'll wreak havoc when you run your interior bay flying and landing wires. Lance, that's a good idea about starting with a simpler build. I may take your advice and order a Pup.

Chris, I just looked through your Bristol build. Wow! Absolutely beautiful, but you may have scared me off the Bristol for a while! I couldn't believe it when I saw you had put them all away in boxes though!
