1/72 Revell Fokker Dr.1

Revell 1/72 Fokker Dr1 in the Red Baron's colors.  This is my only plane of his painted with some kind of red.

I used Vallejo Dark Vermillion red overall.  Gaspatch machine guns were added since they are prominent in this aircraft.

.005 stainless steel wire for the rigging.  I like the Eduard kit just as well.  Hope to soon finish it as well.  I used some graphite to tone down the red a bit.  Part PE stitching used on the bottom of fuselage.  Overall a fun build.

That’s a great job on a real little classic.

Great job on one of my favorite kits from back in the day... the last time I built it I was about 13, it was the boxing with Voss flying over a pranged-up D.H.2 (IIRC). I think I still have the bits of it somewhere.

Nice build Rip.  Revell makes an excellent Dr.1.

Looks very good Rip, I like how you represented the over-painting around the national insignia.  It looks like the updated Revell Dr.I kit builds up nicely... as good as the Eduard?  It's too bad Revell didn't make the same upgrades to some of their other old bird kits... namely (at least for me) the Sopwith triplane and Nieuport 28.

Nice job on a classic scheme. This has gone together well.

It looks like the updated Revell Dr.I kit builds up nicely... as good as the Eduard?
I reviewed the Revell kit against the Eduard one for a modelling mag when it first came out and they are pretty much equal. The engine is nicer in the Revell kit, as are the kit guns. Both build about the same and both look very good.

Nice one Rip. It's compulsory to do a red triplane at some stage in a modelling career!
