Wing warping cables

In anticipating rigging the Eindekker and the Morane N, I'm a bit confused as to drilling points on the wings since drawings of both planes appear show different attachment points for the upper and lower cables.  It looks to me like the uppers attach to the bottom of their respective ribs while the lowers attach to the tops of theirs, at points in line with the spars.  Am I under a misapprehension?  It wouldn't be the first time.  When I built both planes, by Revell, back in the last century, I just poked a hot pin straight through at a rib....

Hi - looking at the Datafile for the Morane N-type it looks like the same attachment points to me.  Certainly for the Eduard 1/48 I’m building you can drill straight through.. at this scale if there was any  difference it would be minimal I imagine and entail a bit of work to fix. But I’m no expert!

I can't comment on the Eindecker but when I built the Eduard Morane 'N' I just drilled right through.

Hi Matt and Al,

Thanks for posting.  Am I correct in assuming the drill-through would be some mm's inside of the respective ribs?  That seems to be what the few plans I've seen show....

Chiming in late, but yes, the cables on the Eindecker attached at the same locations top and bottom, as shown in this photo from the San Diego E.III replica:



That's the attachment point on the front spar between the fourth and fifth ribs out from the wing root (note that that's a nose-rib to the left of the metal attachment fitting, it doesn't go any farther back than the front spar). I had to locate cutouts on the upper and lower wing decals for the Aviattic sheets since the material wouldn't have been able to conform to the "cups" molded into the wings that covered said attachment points. It was bad enough trying to match them up as it was, it would have been a complete nightmare if they'd actually been in different locations!
