Hi gang,
My name is Ralph and some of you have no doubt seen me on a few other modeling fora. I've been building models for 25+ years now, but only recently became interested in WW I (and earlier) aviation. I've collected a few biplane kits over the past year, but most of my projects have either stalled after I finished the easy bits, or have failed after I attempted the harder bits.
I have a few biplanes (and one early monoplane) kits in each of the major scales, and haven't really settled on which one I favor for bipes. I do most of my aircraft modeling in 1/72, but so far my attempts at 72nd scale biplanes have been unsuccessful. I was lucky to get a handful of unbuilt 32nd scale kits, and I really like them, but I'm concerned about space in the long run, hence a long term collection in this scale may not be a realistic goal. I was also given a DH 2 in 1/48, but I'm a bit frightened by it for now, so I can't say I've experienced biplanes in the quarter scale.
In any case, I hope to pick up some lessons from you bunch, and hopefully successfully build at least one wingy stringy thingy in each of the three scales by years end.
I doubt the DH2 will be one of them though
