1:32nd scale - Port Victoria PV.7 'Grain Kitten'
« on: May 20, 2020, 08:47:05 AM »
Hi all,
The finished 1:32nd scale model of the Port Victoria PV.7 'Grain Kitten'.
A prototype 'disposable' fighter, intended to be launched from towed pontoons or ship mounted platforms in the English Channel.
The intention was to intercept Zeppelins, that were attacking England, whilst they were still out over the sea.
At the end of the flight, the pilot was to ditch in the sea, then somehow get out of this tiny aircraft and probably at night - brave men indeed,
Needless to say the PV.7 and it's sister the Port Victoria PV.8 'Eastchurch Kitten' never went into operational service.

As usual, a fully detailed build log, in PDF format, will be available to download from my site (Gallery 2) - (site link below).

Mike

PS: The slack landing wire (left side) has been tightened.

First rate work Mike. Not a lot to that plane, unsurprising considering it's one time design, but you took those engine cylinders to town. You have to do a double take to realize just how simple the design really is. Not just anybody can pull that off.

Great build! There's a lot to like, but one thing especially is the way you've made the ribs standout just enough to create interest.

A very interesting build thread and an outstanding model at the end. The figure is an additional touch to show jus how small this aircraft was. The finish is superb and the overall quality of the build likewise. A winner for me!

Outstanding result, Mike.  I like the cylinder detail.
I think the concept of a disposable fighter illustrates how desperate things must have been at that time.

Wow that’s amazing! And new to me, I’m sure it would have taken a lot of courage to go up in such a small craft, and against Zeppelins no less! Thanks for sharing;
