How to oil stain an Eindekker?
«

I am about to paint the fuselage of my Eindekker. As a total amateur here, what is a good way to replicate the oit soaked look on the bottom and sides of the thing?
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,
you have several options to do this.
You can use very dark brown (Van Dyck Brown for instance) or black oil paint, mixed with gloss varnish or you can buy ready made washes to achieve this effect.

I am experimenting with pastels right now.
I use black, raw umber, and also prussian blue... I grind them in a fery fine powder and then I apply them with a brush... Easy to overdo, though... I'll post some pics soon.
Ciao

I use a mix of Lifecolor Tensachrome washes and Citadel (Games Workshop) Devlan Mud. The latter gets extensively used in my builds

i made a wash from 3/4 sepia india ink mixed with a bit of black india ink, water and a splash of tamiya smoke. this is good for staining on fuselage fabric and wings. a thinned tamiya smoke with a tad of burnt umber acrylic paint makes a great motor oil looking fluid for an engine wash or to simulate the streaks of oil eminating from the engine compartment. you can even used the later to sim oil spills/puddles as it drys semigloss.
