Wingnut Wings EI
« on: December 30, 2017, 06:49:34 AM »
Putting my recent activities with modern armor aside, I have resume work on my Wingnut Wings EI. I am still dithering between E 5/15 and E 13/15. I believe Wintgens was the first Eindecker pilot to score an aerial victory and that Immelmann was given preferential treatment for some reason. But E13/15 has claim to a special status having been flown by Immelmann and the great Boelcke.

But, I’ve finished the engine…

I plan to provide occasional updates here, but will document the build more fully on my blog: http://modelsinscale.wordpress.com

I do this mainly because of all of the issues I have had over the years with “free” web photo hosting sites. I have had one quit working, one demanding a subscription fee and the last being outdated with no plans to bring it current so it basically doesn’t work any longer. With WordPress, I can upload my own photos and they stay there.

I like 5/15, because it's a bit different with the higher positioned wings.
Some even more interesting (to me) E.I profiles by Ronny Bar, here:

What is going on there then? As you say, higher wing with that window, a bit like a Fokker M8 and armed with a Parabellum which I didn't think could be synchronised

MORE: OK, I worked it out. M5/15 isn't exactly an E1. She was an M5MG, a sort of precursor to the E.1 with high wing and the earliest installation of the Fokker pushrod gun synchroniser. That's why she shares characteristics with the M8 two seater. I was wrong about the Parabellum, it's another version of the Maxim so can be synchronised in a similar way to the lMG08 or the Vickers
