Introduction, and a question

  Good Morning, everyone!  My name is Bob, and hail from Fort Worth, Texas, in the USA.  I'm absolutely new to World War 1 Aircraft, but have been inspired by your excellent Website.
  My first attempt will be an Albatros Dv, but have already run into an issue,...maybe you  can lead me thru the "wilderness".
   1.   I'd love to purchase decals from Pheon, but have drawn a blank trying to contact them... 
   2.  How do you guys deal with currency transactions thru different countries?
   3.  Customs?

The best way to make international payments for products or services is via PayPal... for now.
I can't help with the Pheon question. Hopefully Rowan will be able to answer for himself.

As Von Buckle has said, the best way to conduct money transactions worldwide is through paypal, very simple and instant.

I know there are some countries where the modelers are hit pretty hard with customs and import duties, England being one of the worst. I have only heard of one case where customs was applied to an order which went to Canada, but I have not heard of such a thing for parcels to the USA.

OK,...Opened a Paypal account and sent an e-mail to Rowan.  I'll let you guys know about customs on the first shipment.

Welcome aboard my friend.Glad you've found an interest in WW I aircraft and this excellent forum. You'll find plenty of information and numerous helpful modeler to help you out. All you've got to do is ask your question. looking forward to seeing the first progress on your Albatros.

Customs hasn't been an issue for the many things I've purchased from our friends overseas -- decals, PE and so forth.

Welcome aboard Bob,
I'm originally from the UK, now living in (on?) Cape Cod, Mass., I've ordered many kits and bits and pieces from overseas and never had an issue with customs. It seems only the UK has a problem with being charged import duties/taxes by the govn't on items bought by individuals from overseas companies - call it competition!..... hmmm, remind me why I left....

Hello Bob welcome to the site

For sure here you will found all the help or little trick you need to improve you skill , it's by far the best pleasant place to talk or show your build in regards of the WW1 airplane period site....... Welcome.

And yes paypal is in my opinion the most practicable and user friendly manner to pay for a kits or any kind of related stuff.

  Never did discuss gaining the skill to do these things justice.  Another story, I assume....

good to hear re Pheon. On the skills acquisition - some of us, including myself, are just starting out on this adventure. I don't possess one sixteenth of the skills of most here so my aim is just to experiment with my first WW1 build, a Roden 1:32 Dr.1. This build is progressing very, very slowly but my aim is to have fun learning techniques new to me - wood effect painting, rigging, detailing, sealing coats, etc, etc. The discussion on each of these skills can be found in specific threads and in many of the build logs, etc. This forum is becoming wonderfully information dense - you'll find little nuggets of info and some very interesting discussions which ever way you turn!!
