Sopwith Camel F.1, B2455, Eduard, 1:48
« on: February 28, 2015, 08:09:57 AM »
The American prisoner
In May 1918 Lt. E.G.Forder of 28th Sqn RAF, was forced down by his rival Austrian Oberleutnant Frank Linke-Crawford to land on Flik 60/J’s Feltre airport in northern Italy. And then the picture was taken, which is so popular as well as on web as in many publications available.
I have taken Eduard kit 8057 &  PE no. FE432 to build this replica and thanks to Taurusmodels Vectors rotary Clarget engine was taken as the frosting on the cake:)
I tried as much as I could to cover the Vectors engine with Eduards cowling but it was little larger than expected and had to leave the cowling on the ground:(

Enjoy
K

You have done a beautiful job with this model K, the weathering is superb and the engine looks great, well done.

This is really, really nice K, well done. I have an Eduard Camel on the back burner and can only aspire to the standard you have achieved.

Best wishes
Nigel

Good job K!  I remember the excitement and buzz when this kit came out, and the attendant blue cloud as modelers wanted to throw it against the wall, frustrated with attaching the top wing. :o  You don't see many of these around any more, sure is nice to see you posting yours.

That is a really beautiful Camel, K!  Love the weathering and overall finish.  I've built one of these using the Blue Max Comic fuselage and really enjoyed it.  A few more in the stash and seeing this little beauty makes me want to do another.
Cheers,
Bud

I have to write that leaving the engine exposed was actually a good idea as it really turns a good model into something a bit special. Wonderful build.

Great job and presentation.  Nice to see the engine and I really like the rib tape treatment.

Very fine. The blue details add a lot the British raw colour. Pity you could not attach the engine cowling. In this shape it reminds me the Camel from Cracow museum.

I really like this one. Are there any kits the Vector rotaries will fit without modification?
