1/48th SE5a Hisso markings?
« on: December 29, 2014, 09:38:16 PM »
Hi Folks,
I've recently picked up the good old 1/48th Blue Max SE5a kit, a nice kit considering the low run technology, only to find the decals have seen better days with all the white areas being rather yellow!

Anyone have some left overs from the Pheon Hisso Aces sheet they would be willing to sell me? I'll never get through a whole sheet of markings as I seldom build the same plane twice. I'm based in the UK by the way.

Many thanks and happy new year!

Paul

Tiger, I think it was the "1/48" that stumped every one.  Not many of us left.  Let me go through my stash and see what I have to offer and I'll get back to you.  What scheme from the Pheon sheet would you like to do?
Cheers,
Bud

Have you considered Pheon Decals?

Wahay! Happy new year guys and many thanks for taking the time to help, I really appreciate it. Thanks Jamo, I looked at Pheon immediately as I had the pleasure of meeting Rowan a few years ago at a show here in the UK and I know they are an outstanding product. But not being as prolific as a lot of modellers here I know I would only use one option and not justify buying a whole sheet of 17!

Bud, many thanks for your kind offer! The markings in the Blue Max kit are McCudden's 56 Squadron B4863 and Elliot White Springs D6851 of 85 Squadron, both of which are in the Pheon sheet. Having just read McCudden's biography his markings are more relevant to me, but as long as it's a Hisso option with the old style undercarriage I'm not fussy. There are several options on the sheet that cater for aircraft with the more robust, natural wood finish landing gear (E.G - D5969 29 Sqn, St.Omer, France. June 1918. Lt.C.H.R.Lagesse) and the kit doesn't offer this landing gear option.

If you are able to spare a set of markings that would be great, I can send you a stamped addressed envelope with a cheque or pay you by paypal, whatever you prefer.

Best regards,
Paul
