Erik Whipple ringing in from Gloucester, Virginia USA
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:34:01 AM »
Hello Forum Members,

I'd like to thank Des for undertaking this endeavour and creating a new place for discussion of Great War aircraft.  Good to see some familiar names here, too. Like most of you, no doubt, I've been fascinated by WW1 aviation since I was a kid- there were so many great paperbacks to read like "Iron Men with Wooden Wings" and several biographies such as Udet's among others. However, I must admit that although I have many solid technical and historical references on the subject in my library I do not consider myself a "heavy hitter".  If anything, following forums over the past 15 years or so has only served to demonstrate how little I actually know about those great men and their magnificent machines. I dabble in 1/48th and 1/32nd models as well. So, I'm here to learn, share our mutual enthusiasm for the topic... and am very happy to be here!
