Eye See

Well after a long battle with left eye damage which then started light sensitivity in my right eye, I have had an eye evisceration. While it has now made me 100% blind in my left (It was about 90% shot before) the right eye has instantly stopped giving me grief. What more can I ask for? It has allowed me to reflect on my return to the work place last year and I have decided to return to the retirement force instead. Life is too short. Does my budget change a bit? -yup- but my stash is bulging at the seams and a move to a quieter location in the world in the near future leaves me wanting for nothing. Over the 20 months back at YYZ I missed my freedom incredibly and the desire to build models, improve my guitar playing and NOT deal with the BS hovered tantalizingly close by. The final straw was the tax man who seemed to have his hand out even more! January 1st is Freedom 66 and I only have 6 shifts to do prior to that....if management doesn't F with me......

I'm glad you are over the challenges with your eye and accept where you are at. Good choice regarding retirement. I retired earlier than planned due to pressure of work and it was the best decision I made. The first few years of retirement can be a bit unsettling as you adapt to not having a wage coming in, but once you get used to it you can relax and enjoy finishing off the stash

   So good to hear you've found relief from the eye condition, it's been a long and I'm certain very tough journey for you.
    From my experience you've chosen the far better path of retirement; I finally went back home for good at 69 after 5 or 6 failed retirement attempts and truly regret not quitting sooner....... more  income is nice but it doesn't trump years of good health to enjoy retirement which you can never get back.
   All the best wishes and it's nice to see you back, keep us posted and enjoy the transition.

I was sorry to read about your partial loss of sight - I hope that it will not stop you from modelling.

Your decision to take early retirement is the right one IMHO - I too retired early as the pressures of the job and problems within the family became too much. The lower income is something than can be adjusted to and the freedom gained more than compensates for it. Enjoy your retirement as much as you can because old age does not come alone, so make the most of your best years while you can.

I just saw a blurb on the Facing Book about a gentleman that had lost an eye, and he was cast by Peter Jackson for a part in the Battle of Helm's Deep in LOTR, so you never know!

Like the others I am sorry to hear of your Eye Loss  Again, like the others I am Happy to hear of your retirement. It's the best thing that ever happened to Me and I hope it's the same for you!
