Cheering myself up
« on: May 12, 2013, 06:35:55 AM »
Hi All

Well, we've had a desperately bad week over here with my wife very ill in hospital and my visiting three times a day. Fortunately, things seem over the worst now but I still needed to cheer myself up a little.

The only answer seemed to go into the model shop in Limoges where I'd been umming and aahhing over several things  that I knew they'd probably not sell in a month of Sundays. But over 90 euros for a Roden Straaken seemed way over the top and more than I could afford. 32.50 euros for the Eduard Pfalz D.IIIa Profipak Combo (The one with the Jasta 30 flight on the box lid) didn't seem too bad considering that I think models are taxed as luxury items in France.

All I need now is some time to start building some of these things again!

Best wishes
Nigel

Hey buddy, do whatever it takes. I've thankfully not been in your situation (yet), but I can just imagine that keeping your own spirits up is half of the battle. Chin up, best wishes to your wife, and take comfort in the fact that you're about to get a lot of people you've never met in person, but who are still concerned for your welfare, offering you well wishes.

Take care of yourself and your family,

Lindsay

Very sorry to read of your wife's illness, Nigel, but very glad to see that she's recovering.  Also, delighted to see that you're keeping your spirits up.  This will do wonders in helping your bride overcome her illness.
Here's to her speedy recovery,
Bud

Hi

What else can I say but thank you to all for your thoughts and kind words?

Just back from my second visit of the day. My wife may come out of hospital in the middle of next week. As things stand, to my untutored eye, the doctors have no clear idea as to what caused the problem, recognise that there has been a major blood problem, but have equally little idea as to what has brought about the improvement!

I've just taken the instruction booklet from the Pfalz box. The back cover shows the then contemporary recent releases and there are some of the real high quality Eduard models. That should bode well for the Pfalz.

Best wishes
Nigel

Doing your best for your Love and Yourself does heal Nigel!
During the rough patches in my life I always throw myself into a frenzy of model building simply to relax when my brain hurts.
