Aces Mounts GB 2025 - Fokker DVII

A model resurrected by this group build after being temporarily abandoned because I felt it was a bit 'meh'

I wanted a quick to finish project to get the old building mojo going again after getting bogged down with repairs and longer projects and this one fitted the bill perfectly. It is of course Eduard's lovely DVII in the one true scale (72nd of course) I wish I'd spent more time refining the cockpit which was pretty stock apart from some painted dials and few bits of stretched sprue (The chucky control column bugs me a bit, but hey ho!)
Struts on this one are all filed brass wire, some soldered and others superglued, a few bits of a part etched brass sheet and carved airscrew finished it off. I've kept the weathering light because of the very short service life on this one; because the weathering is in oils (the rest of the model is painted acrylics) it will tend to flatten down over the next few days when it might need a couple of tweaks.

Great kit mainly delayed by my inability to work out how to make the inner cabahes up from brass (ended up winging it and cutting to fit each piece of the tripod and using superglue once the top wing was in place) For the next one I'll be braver and thin the brass down some more because it's plenty strong enough

Excellent!!! As you mentioned, one of the most iconic paint schemes applied to an aircraft.  It looks great!
Wooden prop turned out looking very realistic (Ya, maybe that's because it's real wood???) and thank you for the brief tutorial you gave in a previous post, I've picked up some ply and am going to give it a go myself (I've not sanded the one layer of ply off yet so that's still a down the road project).
Did you also make the step and the grab handles on the fuselage out of brass?

Glad you're going to have a go at carving a prop Scott; it's really not too difficult to do and it's immensely satisfying to have the twist in the prop appear before your eyes when carving.

On this one the grab handles are brass and the step is an etched part that I've bulked up with paint to get a 3d shape (wipe the loaded paint brush at an angle against the edge on one side, let dry then do the same on the other side)
