A New Chapter for Me
« on: August 16, 2025, 12:25:36 AM »
As of today, my career as a teacher (both public school and working as an instructor in a job training program) comes to an end.
Come Monday I will start a new job as a technical writer for US Army Special Operations Aviation Command in support of the 160th SOAR Nightstalkers. This is going to be an exciting and interesting job! Wish me luck.

All the best Warren, and congratulations! Will you be working somewhere you can watch the unit's machines out and about?

Best of luck Warren. I'm not sure who would be the worst adversary, enemies of the US Army or public school kids!
Alan.
I heard that it all started when a bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich 'cause he was hungry!

Alan, in the five years I taught public school, it was certain parents and spineless and petty administrators that did my students and me the most damage. In the thirteen years I was an instructor in Job Corps, it was students with entitled, "I'm a victim" and "the world/gov't owes me a living" attitudes that drug me down. Now, I'll get to go to work everyday with retired spec ops types to design training. A refreshing change to say the least.

Good on you Warren.
We often comment on how glad we are that our kids are grown. I would never be able to be a teacher now, I'd be arrested for assault...
Thanks,

I can understand that, I would feel exactly the same way.

Outstanding to hear this Warren. I?m sure you?ll find this a rewarding experience. During my career as an 18 Delta (Special Forces Medical Sergeant) I had a few opportunities to fly with the Nightstalkers. Hands down the best helicopter pilots and crew in the world.

Thanks Tim! Yes, I'm finding this job very rewarding. It's really great to go to work each day with great people knowing my labors are helping some great folks do a difficult job. Let's not forget those air-frame maintainers, medics, etc.!  :)
