« on: December 20, 2024, 02:33:24 AM »
Hi all,
Here's the 'Eduard' 1:48th scale Sopwith F.1 Camel, No.209 Squadron,
(RAF), Bertangles, France 1918, as flown by 2/Lt Wilfried 'Wop' May.
Figures from 'Model Cellar'.

A very nice venture into a smaller scale. A lovely Camel all around!

Lovely work all round and excellent presentation as always. Very convincing finish on all the surfaces. Are you tempted to do more in this scale.....?

Hi Nigel,
Not sure really.
I would given the less display room required.
On the other hand the smaller scale limits the extra detail that can be added.
I have one other 1:48th scale kit, which is the Gotha GV (ex Hippo/AZ) with Gaspatch and Lukgraph extras, as released a while back by Richard at 'Aviattic'.
We'll see,

Mike

Very nicely done, Mike. Great build and the paint finish on the model and figures worked out very well indeed.
Cheers,
Gary

I'd really like to see what you could do with this one. Dave Hooper built one and it looks great, although apparently it required a bit of work (which I am sure you could manage).

Excellent work Mike, as always. Very well presented also :)

What are your thoughts on the rib tapes in 1/48? They seem rather pronounced when I look at the kit in my stash.

Cheers and well done again!

Hi Brad,
I agree the rib tapes are a bit 'Lukgraph'.
The tapes are OK I think, it's the stitching that is prominent.
However, I didn't bother to sand them down as this build was more out of curiosity.
If I build another 1:48th model I'll doubtless address that sort of thing,
