Hawker - new cinemtic short film about Lanoe Hawker
« on: November 30, 2023, 09:58:52 AM »
Members of the The Great War Aviation Society probably know about this - the short film "Hawker" was released last week on 23 November, the anniversary of Lanoe Hawkers death (MVR's 11th victory).  I attended the Zoom meeting yesterday put on by the society with a presentation by Daniel Arbon (producer and director) followed by a viewing of the film and a question and answer period. The short film (23 minutes) centers around July 25 1915 when Hawker downed 3 german aircraft in one sortie, in his Lewis armed Bristol Scout 1611.

This page https://www.crossandcockade.com/Blog.asp?Display=298 talks about the film with links to Vimeo for streaming or downloading the film, as well as a Youtube  interview with Daniel Arbon and Air Vice Marshall (Rtd) Peter Dye OBE.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film! David Bremner changed the markings and rigged up the Lewis gun on the port side of his reproduction Bristol Scout to represent Hawker's 1611 and flew it for this film. Mr. Arbon hopes to make a full feature film  covering the WWI career of Lanoe Hawker.

Unfortunately I missed it, although I'd signed up for the Zoom presentation. I could kick myself now... :-/
