Found a topic on the Britmodeller site pointing to an IPMS Stockholm article regarding Nies in RFC / RNAS service that might interest others here.

The posts on BM about the synchronised Lewis are wrong. That's a Nie 16 with an Alkan synchronised Lewis gun:
Apparently, it significantly lowered the fire rate of the Lewis
